ADVANCED HAIR STUDIO
For many people hair is one of the most important facets of their personality. Modern lifestyle and stressful work schedules, however, have left people on crossroads between their health and wealth.
Lack of proper nutrition and stress are some of the most common causes of hair loss, which has become a global health concern in both men and women. Hair loss can also be caused due to factors like genetics, medications, hormonal changes, etc. All these factors can individually, or in conjunction with each other, lead to either temporary or permanent hair loss.
Nowadays, there are many hair loss treatments available in the market. Some of the most popular ones include hair transplantation, and hair replacement. Hair replacement includes a plethora of non-invasive methods like hair patching, hair wigs, etc.
Hair transplantation is arguably the most popular hair regrowth procedure in the world. Under hair transplantation hair follicles from different parts of the head, or body are removed and are planted into the balding areas of the head. This process is often referred to as Follicular Hair Transplantation.
Hair transplantation can be done in two major ways, namely - Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT). One of the major dilemmas people face is deciding between FUE and FUT? The answer varies from person to person, as it depends on a variety of factors such as an individual’s needs and the recommendations of the doctor.
Under FUT a strip of skin containing hair follicles is removed from the donor site, this strip of hair is typically extracted from the back of the head where hair is naturally fuller and has a very less chance of falling. Groups of tissue containing hair follicles are removed and separated, and then are prepared for transplantation.
While this process takes place, tiny separate holes are made in the recipient site, where the person getting the transplantation is experiencing thinning and balding. Then, the tissue containing follicles so extracted are individually placed into the recipient site. FUT has been in the market for quite over two decades and initially it was considered to be a revolutionary method for restoring degrading hairline.
FUE was developed so as to compensate for the supposedly touted disadvantages of FUT, while trying to achieve the same results. However in reality both methods have their own reasons for benefits as it depends on the client on whom the procedure is to be performed.
Similar to the Follicular Hair Transplantation, FUE involves planting hair follicles from a donor site to a recipient site. The major difference between FUT and FUE is that, FUE does not involve extracting a strip of skin from the back or side of the head.
Rather in this technique, individual hair follicles are directly collected from the scalp and are then inserted into small holes made in the recipient site. The FUE takes more time than FUT, but instead of a single scar minute circular scars are there. And post-procedure in FUE is quite different than what the process is when it comes to be FUT, which is the procedure of choice.
Now that we have looked into the two major methods of hair transplantation, the next question that comes into the picture is whether hair transplantation has side effects or not. Like all other things in life, hair transplantation too comes with its own pros and cons. Let us study what it has to offer:
Hair transplant has turned out to be a blessing for those who want to have a natural-looking hairline. The surgery is done by transplanting hair from the donor site to the recipient site. Hence, the texture and the look of the donor hair perfectly match the existing hair.
Another benefit of hair transplantation is that it ensures minimal downtime. Just after taking bed rest for a few days, you can resume your everyday activities. However, it is very important to take permission from your surgeon before you resume your physical activity.
If you go for any of the methods of hair transplantation, if done right then no visible scar will be left on your scalp after surgery. Also, hair transplantation is conducted under local anesthesia, you will feel no pain during the sessions.
Non-surgical means of treating hair loss may seem like an affordable option, but they require extensive maintenance. The cost of maintenance alone adds up over time, increasing the overall cost drastically. Hence, people who are looking for a maintenance free hair loss treatment, which will last a lifetime shouldn’t look anywhere other than hair transplantation.
The whole hair transplantation procedure is quite durable, for the whole procedure to be completely done it takes around 3-4 months which is a long waiting period. Furthermore, before actually getting the appointment from a physician, you have to go for multiple sittings in the clinics of the hair transplant surgeon and sometimes getting the appointment from a renowned surgeon can even stretch for 2 years sometimes.
Under good medical guidance, hair transplantation can yield great results, with natural looking hair, but it can also take a turn for the worse if not performed correctly. From hair fall to serious infection, people can get into a lot of problems if they get their hair transplantation done by anyone other than a medical professional who has reasonable experience in the field of surgery, as hair transplantation is also a surgical procedure.
The overall cost of FUE or FUT depends on the total number of hair grafts or hair follicles a person requires. Therefore, the cost may vary from person to person. From the choice of doctor to the choice of method of hair transplantation, a lot of factors add to the total cost of hair transplantation.
The fee structure of hair transplantation is quite expensive compared to other hair loss treatments. Hair transplantation demands a lot of expenditure starting from the very beginning and even after the surgery ends. Hence, getting hair transplantation is not affordable by everyone.
Another downside of hair transplantation is that many side effects run parallel during the treatment. Like itching, pain, numbness, non-acceptance of a foreign tissue, etc. One has to be very careful while selecting a surgeon, as there are high chances that one might fall prey in the wrong hands and the whole treatment can get botched up. Hence, when you are planning to spend so much money in hair transplantation, do make sure to research for a renowned hair transplant surgeon.
